In regards to the Batman franchise, I’m thrilled that Nolan is staying on board. See, when I saw Batman Returns, I realized that Tim Burton had lost the thread. It was good, don’t get me wrong, but it was drifting away from the darkness of Batman. It was starting to become more light-hearted.
Batman Begins got it. Nolan got it. He understood Batman and knew what it would take for the audience to get it too. The Dark Knight cemented that. Nolan upped himself. That gives me hope for the third.
As for him being involved in a Superman project, I’d be thrilled to see that as well. Superman Returns was by no means terrible, but I’m afraid it didn’t really meet expectations. I think everyone though Bryan Singer would work a miracle. He delivered an entertaining movie, but not much more than that.
In any case, it’s nice to think that Nolan is on track to deliver some superhero awesome in the near future.
