For a while there, it looked like the Wolverine might have been the movie I wanted X-Men Origins: Wolverine to have been. Now, that’s falling apart.
First, the director, Darren Aronofsky, left the project. Then natural disasters and their aftermath scourged Japan, where the Wolverine was to be filmed. Now it looks like Hugh Jackman may be looking for other work until the movie gets back on track.
While we will likely have First Class to keep us going until the Wolverine gets made, the fact that Jackman is going to be involved in another production means that we will likely be waiting two years—optimistically—for the Wolverine to arrive, if it ever does. The sad thing is that maybe what made this movie anticipated will be lost in the interim. All it takes is a mediocre director, or one with a vision at variance with what is in the script to change it into another Origins fiasco.
Please, no.
And to add insult to injury, it looks like the Deadpool movie is languishing as well. Should Green Lantern make money, Ryan Reynolds will likely be back on for the sequel production quickly—with little or no time for Deadpool. And that’s even if a director can be found in the near future.
Things are looking grim. Thanks Hollywood—or the Fates, Satan, whomever—for taking my dreams and drilling them in the pooper.

All the talk of Ryan Reynold’s as Deadpool might be for naught. And it certainly won’t be happening soonish.
In a recent interview, Reynolds indicated that Deadpool is one of two comic book adaptations he might be involved in, and nothing is decided right now. The decision will come after two other movies with which Reynolds is involved are completed.
To me, this is insane. Reynolds is perfect for the Deadpool part. He’s even portrayed the character once—the best damn thing about that Wolverine movie. Not having read RIPD, I have no idea how well he could represent the character from that, but, c’mon, Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool! How can you pass on that.

Ryan Reynolds has been talking about the proposed Deadpool movie, and he’s actually given me hope. Not hope that will actually see this movie, about which I have my doubts, but hope that should this movie force its way into creation, it won’t totally suck.
According to Mr. Reynolds, the Deadpool movie will not be constrained by what happened in the Wolverine movie.
Thank you.
Ryan was outstanding as Wade in that movie, but what later happened to Deadpool was straight up stupid. I honestly couldn’t believe it. Actually, I could, that movie sucked dead donkey balls that had been sautéed over a shit fire. Pissing all over the Deadpool character was part of a pattern of flagrant fucktardery.
Apparently the movie is going to have a very serious side, if Mr. Reynolds’ comparison of the script to the movie Barfly is to be believed. Still, we are told that Deadpool will break the fourth wall and will be totally hilarious.
That’s a heck of a lot for a movie to accomplish. Still, even if it fails to hit those beats, as long as we get a movie that replicates to some degree the lunacy and energy that made Deadpool so popular, I’ll be pretty happy.

There are writers on board for the much anticipated (at least by me) Deadpool movie with Ryan Reynolds. Variety is telling me (and just me, so don’t even bother to ask them) that these are the guys from Zombieland . . . not that they are actually from a place called Zombieland, rather, they wrote the movie called Zombieland.
You know what I mean.
And this means happiness. I haven’t seen it (because I don’t get to see movies, just write about how much I anticipate them), but reviews from those I trust tell me it’s good.
Ryan Reynolds knows his Deadpool stuff, these writers seem to be able to pull off the action comedy, what could possibly go wrong?
Let me see . . . director, studio interference, finances, Gozilla. So, a shitload of stuff can still mess this up.
Here’s me praying it doesn’t. See God? See me prayin’ for Deadpool?
P.S., did you see the title of the article? I always love it when they use the term “tap!”
Tap that, bitches.

According to Variety, Ryan Reynolds has landed the role of Green Lantern in the upcoming movie. Anyone who knows of my man-crush on Reynolds will figure I’m excited about this. I am. The movie is being directed by Martin Campbell, who might not be an auteur, but certainly has the skills.
The big question–at least for me–is does this impact on the Deadpool movie at all? I pray it does not. While I’ve got wood for a Green Lantern movie, it’s really Deadpool that I want to see Reynolds in.

So, according to IESB, the X-Men Origins: Wolverine re-shoots now underway are to incorporate more in the movie. I’m all for that. For one, I actually like the character. Given a good writer, Deadpool can be quite amusing. Second, as any who know me can tell you, I have a bit of a man-crush on Ryan Reynolds. The guy consistently cracks me up, is a Canuck, and married Scarlett Johansson. His character and quips were some of the few bright spots in Blade: Trinity (along with Jessica Biel . . . just being there!). So adding more Deadpool to this Wolverine movie is cool by me.
That’s not saying this might not all end up taking a huge steaming poop on the X-Men franchise. Oh, wait, Brett Ratner already did that!
