From Swan to Wolverine

  • by

So, Darren Aronofsky, the Black Swan director who was going to do Man of Steel? Well, seems that comic adaptations are not done with him, because he’s being floated as the director of Wolverine 2. This is in the preliminary stages, so this could dry up just as fast as the Man of Steel talk did, but it’s an interesting thought.

And not because the director of Wolverine was a know-nothing hack. Say what you like about that movie (like: it sucked!) but Gavin Hood also directed Tsotsi, which won the Academy Award for Foreign Language film. Dude, apparently, has skillz.

So having a director with vision, even an award-winning one, is by no means any assurance of quality. However, it is a good step.

I’d like to see what Aronofsky would do with Wolverine 2. Given a good script, there’s no doubt that if Fox can assemble a cast to match the previous movie, we could have a real winner on our hands, not just a money-maker.
