Paramount has announced that we can expect a Mission Impossible IV come December 2011. Tom Cruise will return as Ethan Hunt and J. J. Abrams will return to produce. There’s no story or anything, but in general the MI franchise has been fun if not overwhelmingly solid, so I’m looking forward to this, though only as a renter. The only MI I saw in theatres was MI2 because—c’mon—John Woo!
Empire Online has reported that Brad Bird, he of the Incredibles, will be directing.
That’s an interesting choice. Again, I have no doubt this will be a fun espionage/action movie with plenty of inspiration for RPGing and such. Bird might bring something extra to it, but I’ll need something REALLY solid before I consider paying to see this in a theatre.
